» paper_turtle - Hell

In response to Hell posted by BrianTubbs:

This really comes down to whether you believe in God or not. If 'no,' then "Hell" will remain one of the most vile and sinister concepts you've ever been presented with. If you DO believe in God, then I think the more balanced and fair thing to do is at least retain an open mind when praying through and contemplating the nature of it and of the after-life in general.
.
Excuse me?
.
As Migisi pointed out, one does not have to believe in hell to believe in God.
.
Seems to me you're making some rather huge--and to my mind, illogical--assumptions. For one thing, you do not know, since I have not said, whether ot not I "view Christianity as a man-made religion."
.
Afterlife does not necessarily equate with the concepts of heaven and hell.
.
I have known a great deal of peace since GOD AND I came to an understanding about the nature of the afterlife.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle

In response to Where's The Beef posted by pink101:

But, I sure do have a beef with the likes of you and your priestly condemnation of all humanity. I say you have got one helluva nerve to put yourself in Moses' seat.

I haven't put myself in Moses's seat. I do realize that I have pushed your hot button, and for that, I apologize. You make a lot of assumptions and accusations everyday that are your attempts to push some buttons. I do think Migisi is attempting to actually define something in the life of Jesus Christ, as to whether He saved anyone by His death. That is really the question that deserves our attention. Not all the button pushing.

That IS Moses' seat where you sit when you make those finalizing statements of what you believe to be reality.

In response to Where's The Beef posted by pink101:

Your ongoing attempt to interpret the life of Jesus apart from anything supernatural simply invokes the choice to believe that little or nothing about Christ was told truthfully when He walked the earth, and nothing miraculous or spiritual happens by way of God's grace when someone accepts Him into their heart.

In all time, either men have spoken of the true God, or the true God has spoken to men. Blaise Pascal

Well then, come on. Give us the specifics. You come in here and you make a lot of claims as you shashay around acting like you have all the answers. But, when it comes to laying it on the line, you cannot prove your points or you would gladly do it. You talk a lot. That should scare you off for a day or two or more.

Give us the specifics. Us? Again with the mouse in the pocket. We are all in some stage of being confused and separated from God. You, Pinky, just seem to enjoy your lifestyle of taking great delight in opposing the entire idea of Christ coming into the world to light you up.

The idea that you are joined by some liberals who discount any specific ideas about Justice being served throughout time and eternity, does not prove that God will simply melt holiness and evil into one big butter ball. The choice to never think or talk about Hell is a decision that Christ never made.

I cannot prove to you that I love God. Nor can I ask you to summon all your experiences to try and answer the question whether He loves me. I realize very intensely that most of the posting that any of us do is vulnerable to the reader who wonders why anyone would contend that they have a good relationship with God, if they were always doing this kind of interaction with folk.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Belief in God, Belief in Hell

Migisi, I agree that it is not necessary to believe in Hell in order to believe in God. Of course, belief does not equate to reality (except in that person's mind). So, whether we believe in Hell or not has nothing to do with whether it exists.

Pink, you asked how I see and understand Hell. I see it as an inevitability of free will. If God gave us a choice, then that choice means NOTHING if the destination or outcome is the SAME for everyone, regardless of the choice or choices made.

In response to Belief in God, Belief in Hell posted by BrianTubbs:
.
So, other than how a person gets to go to Hell, is it a place? Will human beings inhabit it? Will there be great joy and happiness there and will God be the central entity there? What is Hell, Brian? Is it a place where people who make the wrong choice eventually go to spend eternity after they die?
.
Try to be explicit.
