In response to Does God give as good as he gets? posted by Brother_Jones:

Why is it that most churched Christians have the idea of the Gospel that is so strongly promulgated by the likes of Brother Jones--the idea that human beings are, each and every last one of us, guilty of sins that put us in a position with God in which we deserve to be swept into Hell by [Him] and where we will exist through eternity with out end for ever and ever beyond death and where we will experience unspeakable pain and aguish? Where does that come from, Brother Jones? I know you "get it" out of the Bible; but, can you be specific as to exactly where you get that entire scenario? How about explaining it. Or is it better that it remains a mystery?
.
Here, in Brother Jones latest post, you see the idea alluded to again: I didn't draw up any lines, Pinky. He either died for your sins or He didn't. You either worship Him or you don't. You join the rest of the modern historians of the world who regard Jesus as a rather light figure in history who was puffed by his handlers. It is your choice.

Not "every last one of us", Pink. Just you, me, and the other heathen liberals. Jones is saved, dontcha know - whether he sins or not.

Yes, that's true. But, according to his belief, he DESERVES to be swept into Hell's eternal punishment for non-repentant sinners. Such low down rotten pieces of worthless manure that we are except that God takes pity on us and allows His son to be tortured to death as a payment fo our guilt. That tells you something about our guilt that it requires such a price. Wonder what happened to Simon? The water get too hot?

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Hell

I don't see Hell in the way that Pink, Migisi, and Paper Turtle do. Obviously, since the three of you view Christianity as a man-made religion, then "Hell" is nothing more than a construct used to scare people into submission to a system or group of adherents.

This really comes down to whether you believe in God or not. If 'no,' then "Hell" will remain one of the most vile and sinister concepts you've ever been presented with. If you DO believe in God, then I think the more balanced and fair thing to do is at least retain an open mind when praying through and contemplating the nature of it and of the after-life in general.

It looks like you just penned it. You have a beef with God and His Son, so you have a tendency to rattle on like this.

It really isn't as convoluted as you always seem to try and make it. Christ stands in the center of History, and folks either oppose Him or follow Him. You seem to have made your decision a long time ago.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Personally, I see Hell as a construct that is not real under any stretch of the imagination.

So, how do you see Hell, Brian?
.
Easy enough. Take your time.

Human sacrifices to deities was hardly a new concept. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sacri...

As if anyone's guilt could be assuaged by the vicarious punishment of another person? Wouldn't somebody dying for you make you feel even more guilty? Hmm, maybe that was the idea.

Can't speak for anyone else, but since I gave up the concept of Hell, I've never been more at peace - in living and dying. I wonder if you can understand that.
.
One doesn't need to believe in Hell to believe in God.
