Not sure what "it" you are referring to, or how it teaches the importance ... . Care to elaborate?

We need a national forum of the people. Anyone interested in making a contribution?

A national forum on what? prohibition, or the idea I suggested--which, by the way, was MY contribution to question Brian asked about prohibition at the end of his blog entry. I have repeated a portion of my original post, below:
.
Still, I would not favor a return to Prohibition. Alcoholism--or any other addiction (e.g., drugs work, anger, or a host of other things)--is only the manifestation of a deeper problem: a disease of spirit. To cure the addiction, the spirit must be healed. 12-step programs are so effective because they work at healing the spirit. Enacting a law does not heal spirit.
.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't pick up on the comment about enacting a law, since it parallels your objections to legalism in Christianity. ;)

peace and love,
