I think you see MOST (not all, but MOST) politically active, socially conservative Christians to be either "Christo-Fascists," "Dominionists" (defined by you as some sinister conspiracy to usher in some kind of theocracy), or conned, misguided but otherwise well-intentioned folk. I think you see the Christian Right as the modern version of Hitler in the USA. People parading in Christian imagery but wanting to seize power for their own, sinister ends.

You put A LOT of people into this conspiracy - including George W. Bush, D James Kennedy, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and probably a host of others - James Dobson? Gary Bauer? and on and on.

I believe I'm coming pretty close to your view and perspective, Pink, and I reject it.

As far as "...MOST (not all, but MOST) politically active, socially conservative Christians..." are concerned, I don't see them standing up to be counted even against the ideas of Dominionism. Why don't you repudiate it?

Pink the singer? No thanks, I refuse to watch anything she puts out. Not only does she support the largest urban-terrorist group in the US, but her recent calls for a boycott of Australian wool (one of our biggest exports and the backbone of our economy) was ill-informed and inaccurate. Although she admitted she was wrong about it, she still stands by that group and their BS propaganda.

Watched the YouTube links. I disagree strongly with them. I find them to be, frankly, ridiculous and (for fear of overusing the word) offensive. But I won't waste my breath trying to convince the Bush critics and Christian Right critics here of my arguments. Won't do any good. And I don't have the time for it tonight.

We have to continue to stress that God loves every individual regardless of class, race, religion, or sexual proclivity. What happened in Germany according to everything I have read, is that a group of people lost respect for humanity. In his biography of Albert Speer, Joachim Fest writes that:

'Speer's mother confessed the she had joined the Nazi Party as early as 1931, after an SA march through the streets of Heidelberg. She had been impressed by the orderly columns and by the confidence with which they had confronted the general sense of gloom.'

She came from the liberal bourgeouis camp of middle class families who comprised the German makeup of scientists, professors, doctors, and lawyers who opposed Hitler from the beginning.

The charge against the Evangelical Movenment of our time of hatred and bigotry has some tidbits of truth. There are pockets of believers in the United States who have abandoned their faith in Christ to join those who have shiney uniforms and closets full of hunting rifles. They meet in coffee shops to denounce 'homosexuals.' The issue of sexual proclivity is one of the most important issues of our generation and it will separate those who love the Lord from those who use the Lord to further their own agenda.

It seems a simple task sometimes to avoid the folks who use the life of Christ to simply edit out everything He did and said into 'slogans,' for their own benefit. And it is most obvious a tactic of the far left and far right.

We have seen it done over and over by the far left on this site who no longer believe in a Saviour of the world. It is a bit of a simple cake walk for them to spew offensive hatred toward the American President, toward faithful Christians, or anyone who disagrees with them.

We have a lot of work to do, to demonstrate and not just talk about how minority groups in this country must be treated, to reflect that Jesus would consider them as precious in His sight. Real men love men of every stripe and tribe. There is no basis for hurling slogans and epitaths in the body of Christ.

So, are you saying that these pockets of believers,as you call them, have glommed on to the idea of sexual proclibity to bring the rest of Christian Evangelicals into their bourgeois camp of middle class Americans?

There was a group in Germany known as the "Confessing Church". Are you familiar with it?

-- When Robertson calls for a 'godly fumigation' of nonChristians, recommends that Chavez be assassinated, and Supreme Court justices be 'taken out', etc. - he's no Christian either.
-- When Jerry Falwell says "[homosexuals are] brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven." - he's no Christian.
-- When Billy Graham says "All homosexuals should be castrated." - he's no Christian.
-- When the KKK and Christian Identity fire-bombed black churches, and lynched blacks - they weren't Christians.
-- When Baptist pastor Fred Phelps pickets soldiers' funerals, and chants "God hates fags", and "Thank God for IEDs" - he's not Christian.
-- When William Bennett says "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down." - he's no Christian.

You might appreciate this one. It's the most popular persecution propaganda of the evangelical movement:
"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." How can we tell the difference between a 'real' Christian and a manipulative self-serving opportunistic 'no' Christian (like Hitler, Robertson, Phelps, etc.)? Just curious.
