Come on, Jonesey, lighten up.
.
Are you trying to say that you have never put down liberalism or secular humanists as enemies of the truth about God? Are you trying to say that you don't sound the alarm against "slippery liberals" and secularism".
.
Have you checked out any of the links, yet, or are you just so sure that they are nothing but foolishness that you won't bother? Some discuss Bonhoeffer's role in Nazi Germany.

Come on Pinky, you know that the bully tactics you use to smear and belittle do not belong on this forum.

Try to clean it up a little.

» Migisi - God and Government

In response to God and Government posted by BrianTubbs:

.
What I said is that God has empowered government with the right to, in certain circumstances, take life.
.
I did ask you what those circumstances are.
.
Does this mean that all those who hold government positions are properly administering God's justice? Hardly.
.
First, how do we know if they are or aren't administering 'God's justice'? The bible says that no one knows the mind of God, or has sat (or sits) on God's counsel. What ARE God's principles of justice? Can we list them?
.
Secondly, you acknowledge that some who hold government positions were/are NOT properly administering God's justice. If we know or suspect this, then why must we submit to them - as Paul instructed? It's like a commander issuing an illegal order. Isn't it the soldier's obligation to disobey it?
.
The principle of God ordaining government does NOT mean that every government in the history of the human race has been carrying out God's principles of justice.
.
Yet, many have claimed they have and are carrying out God's principles of justice. Israel claims they are. Palestine does too. Iran does. Iraq does. So does Syria, Lybia, and Lebannon. Who decides which one is carrying out God's principles of justice?
.
Hitler quoted the bible to justify his slaughter and abuse of the nonbelieving Jesus-killing Jews. His attitudes against the Jews mirrored those of Martin Luther in Luther's 1543 book "On the Jews and Their Lies". (Read about it here: http://www.nobeliefs.com/luther.htm ) Certain US leaders and the Religious Right have quoted the bible too, and demonized all nonChristian nations as 'enemies' of God (modern term 'axis of evil') - thus justifying aggression against them.
.
The question remains - should we SUBMIT to ANY government, including our own, if we believe they are not carrying out God's principles of justice?

Not at all--far from it. I don't think the people of Germany in the 1930s were Nazis--just Germans who loved their way of life; but, they were snookered.
.
What's up with you, anyway? Are you opposed to any truth that might hurt?

You have an attitude toward Secular Humanists which equates to the attitude the Germans had toward the Jews in the 1930s.

Would you have not taken extreme offense, if I had said similar about you and your attitude toward conservative Christians?

What is it about the attitude the Germans had against the Jews that you don't share in the way you feel about liberalism and secular humanism?
.
Be clear so I understand. I know the Germans thought that their cutlure was under threat by the Jews and I'm pretty sure you think our American culture is under the threat of liberalism and secular humanism. Am I wrong in thinking these things? Is there no parallel?
.
-------------------------------------------------
.
This is from the last link given up above:
.
"Christ of the Third Reich
.
"As Hitler came into office a National Bishop, Mueller, was appointed over a Protestant Church federation. The Protestants at the time included mainline protestants, true to doctrine and church attendance but not wavering greatly from centuries old doctrine since Luther, many 'liberal' believers, including theologians, pastors and laity who had declared Bultmann's theological approach of dismissing in the word what did not assault human reason (Higher Criticism); Social Gospel advocates, a trend which had caught on in America and in which many had been trained in US schools such as Union Theological, and a few ardent believers whom could be described as fundamental evangelicals.

"A large group, though was a group which in historical perspective was very troubling: The Deutsche Christen, or German Christian Church which integrated and redefined traditional Christianity to include and align with the Third Reich. The doctrines of the Deutsche Christen were meant to replace centuries old doctrine. Many of the beliefs were anti-Semitic and defined as heresy. Christ was re-interpreted as the Nietzchean 'superman', an Aryan of the highest order and not a Jew, and Paul was dismissed as irrevelant,..."

I am at a complete loss with trying to reason with you. Why should I spend time trying to defend myself from the appearance of being like the Germans or Nazis? It is offensive, Pinky. Take this kind of rhetoric to somebody else. Spend time bullying another person here. I don't have time for it.
