The "manifesto" I referenced proves my point beyond a shadow of a doubt. I fail to see the evidence of your accusation of ranting and railing.

Okay. Granted that I appear from time to time as a self-righteous jerk. Sometimes I am. But you can't just list an internet site and claim victory for your entire argument. That is my evidence of your rant. At least post something from the Manifest that supports your argument in some way. This topic of your is going to be pretty short lived if you continue to just list an internet site and claim that it answers every question and solves every riddle.

Two comments....

1) Virtually every Bible-believing evangelical Christian that I know believes that the only REAL and WORTHWHILE "theocracy" in the future is the one that Jesus will personally usher in upon His return. It is NOT our place to try to create such a government. For one thing, it's a true conflict in terms. A theocracy, properly speaking, is rule by God. So, unless God Himself personally imposes a theocracy, you don't have one.

2) If you are defining "theocracy" as Christians engaged in the political process to the extent that they wish to elect professing Christians to office and have policies consistent with biblical teachings or evangelical teachings or whatever adjective you want to use.....well...then, my response is...isn't that democracy? Don't Republicans have the right to campaign to get Republicans into office and to enact Republican policies? Do Democrats have that right? Do atheists have that right? Do agnostics have that right? Every interest group - every faction - has a right to engage the political process. Whether they are anti-smoking groups, pro-gun owner groups, anti-abortion groups, pro-choice groups, what have you, they have the RIGHT in our democratic Republic to ENGAGE THE PROCESS by getting likeminded people elected to office and likeminded policies enacted into law. That is what the "Christian Right" is doing. For anyone here to argue that this is somehow UN-democratic or UN-American is either laughable or offensive or both!

I'm not sure I follow your points here. Are you saying that we live in a democracy in which the majority is able to enact any laws they wish to see on the books? If that's your question, the answer is that we don't live in such a democracy and not by the stretch of any imagination and you know it.
.
So, NO! and ABSOLUTELY NOT! No majority has the right to impose its views on the populace by right of its majority status. But, if some majority were to get its sweetheart judges on the Supreme Court, they might be able to over ride the U.S. Constitution with their legal shennanigans and force America into a place where we could give up our democracy. There are those who would welcome such an eventuality.

Yes, every person has the right to engage in the political process, and of course one's beliefs and values will influence which issues (and/or which side of an issue) one wants to support.

BUT

No, it is *not* a democracy if Christianity becomes THE law of the land. The same would be true if it were atheism, or Buddhism, or Islam, or Rastafarianism. America is a pluralistic society, with a constitutional commitment to the separation of church and state.
.
People of high moral principle who are not Christians might support some of the same issues being supported by conservative Christians, but *not* in the interests of seeing any one system of belief become the ONE belief system of the entire nation.
.
Now, from your point of view, it probably does not seem as if this is what Conservative Christians are doing, but this *is* how it seems to liberals, whether Christian or not. Certainly Falwell has said and done things which give creedence to the belief that he would like to see America exclusively Christian.

Railing is correct usuage and I used it correctly in the sentence. I just checked the usuage on an internet dictionary site, so it surely is true. Whether that is what you are doing is up for speculation.

Other than that, Brother Jones, read the first few pages of the Manifesto and you will have your answer--loud and clear.

Lord have mercy. This starting to remind me of yesterday with this idea that the Internet explains everything about history and what people have said and what people believe. Look, I could make your case better than this attempt of yours to lay up in your easy chair and send us on over to the Manifest. I have no idea how you get from that little sliver of a document to the idea that the Christian Right wants to take over the government of the United States and turn it into a theocracy. You are going to need to get off your fuzzy rear end and do some cut and pasting. Try making an effort on this topic.

I thought he frightened children, lol.

But seriously, although he's a fruit loop, his earlier songs were awesome.

There sure are a lot of accusations flying back and forth these past days. Are you certain about this one? Maybe he meant that he wanted to see everybody come to the Lord. Have you got some sort of source for this idea of yours about Falwell? I don't doubt that he has offended you in some way, but we just came through yesterday with this mental picture of Billy Graham standing there with a nut crusher in his hand and now we aren't really sure what Billy thinks. So be careful with Jerry. Show some restraint.

The internet is a remarkable resource for anyone who cares to avail their self to its trove of information and data.

The Christian Manifesto is not the Internet; but, it is stored on the internet. So, I can access it right here in my little office at home.
.
What's your problem with the technology it provides for anyone who has access to a computer?

Just do the homework, Jones. Read it. Knock of the horse manure.

Homework is the right word for it, my friend. Try to be a little patient and usually help is on the way. Sometimes you just need to lighten up and trust folk. They usually will turn the right direction if you don't get heavy handed. This deal about Jerry and Billy is a case in point. Sometimes you think you know a person and the next minute he is standing over you trying to bash your balls. We've got some good people here who believe that at some point in Billy's life that he spoke out of turn, and who knows. We have our beliefs which we hold dearly in our hearts about folk, and then one day we wake up and we see a side of Jerry that came from the Internet and we spend the evening pondering our future instead of laughing and playing and doing what would have happened if we had not taken a bite out of that apple.
