» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - God and Government

Paper Turtle, I never said government is higher than God. I don't see how in the world you got that from my statement. What I said is that God has empowered government with the right to, in certain circumstances, take life.

Migisi, Pink, and PaperTurtle, one clear principle from Romans 13 is that God instituted government. Does this mean that all those who hold government positions are properly administering God's justice? Hardly. God instituted the church and He instituted the office of pastor. This, however, doesn't mean that everyone in the church is doing God's will. And it doesn't mean that all pastors are following God's will.

The principle of God ordaining government does NOT mean that every government in the history of the human race has been carrying out God's principles of justice.

Some of the other points you all are raising get into God's sovereignty and foreknowledge. That is TOO DEEP to get into right now. happy

My inference was, IMHO, a logical extension of what you said here:
.
The New Testament teaches that God will settle all accounts in the end, that we need not take justice into our own hands.
.
There is ONE exception to this, however....
.
GOVERNMENT!

.
You then, as I see it, go on to equate justice with the taking of a life. Yet: I feel quite sure that on the issue of abortion you would be among the first to say that no one but God has the right to take a human life. Giving the state carte blanche to take human lives therefore places the state on the same level with God.
.
You make the "sword of justice" into something literal, while my reading would interpret the sword as a symbol for "rightly dividing" truth."
.
God gave us tendencies which cause us to want to organize things and live in a peaceful, orderly way with others. I don't think this necessarily means that God instituted government. God gave us other tendencies which cause us to search for meaning. Does this mean that God instituted philosophy and science?
.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle

When the lines of communication are drawn, it is difficult to discard the idea that we are involved in a continuation of the Nazi drive to take us down as a democratic nation.
.
There is--of a certainty--something rotten going on in our government.
.
Naziism in the world is a driving force with a serious death wish for Western Civilization as we know it.
.
We are sooooo gullible as our most deeply held inner beliefs are played like a harp by our evil minded leaders.

I think it is becoming obvious that any sign of good communication between the political parties is a threat to the far Left and far Right which I consider you a part of. You want things to appear worse than they are because you are tied into the idea that leading Republicans in this country are on the same track and equal to Nazis. What foolishness you are into!

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

I wish it were foolishness. All I would ask of you at this point is that you check out the links I've given above. I don't think it has anything to do with Republicans or the far Left or the far Right. It's the middle of the roaders who are being conned.
.
You have an attitude toward Secular Humanists which equates to the attitude the Germans had toward the Jews in the 1930s. Just browse through the links I provided above. There is just too much coincidence--far too much for there not to be something to it. So, is it tht you don't believe there is evil in the world? Is that it?

There is probably enough rattling of the swords by extremes in this country to mention the Nazis from time to time. But it is silly to equate debate between conservatives and liberals with 'hate speech and the holocaust.'

Where have I written anything that would make you equate me with an attitude of the Germans against Jews directed toward Secular Humanists? Where?

You haven't any control anymore on your rhetoric except full volume and absolute foolishness. If not me, you pick the next easiest target here. You get more unbalanced by the day.
