» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Favorite Pastors-Preachers-Teachers

Who are your favorite pastors, preachers, or teachers in the Christian community? and why?

I know this is can be a controversial topic since some of the more prominent Christian preachers (Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson for example) are hot-button topics. However, so we can encourage as many as possible to take part in this thread, let's try to keep our commentary polite.

So, who are your favorite pulpiteers of the Protestant Christian world? Joel Osteen? Charles Stanley? Max Lucado? Rick Warren? Tony Evans? Joyce Meyer? Jesse Jackson? Billy Graham? Franklin Graham?
What say you?

I say that JV Mcgee fulfilled all those qualifications mentioned above. In my opinion, JVMcGee was one of the greatest expositors, preacher and teacher the world has ever seen......

Aside from him, I like DJames Kennedy, Jack Van Impe, John Hagee, those mentioned above,
my local pastor, John Brooks

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Where People are

In response to Favorite Pastors-Preachers-Teachers posted by _Boanerges_:

I think the answer probably boils down to where people are in their relationship with the Lord and their willingness and ability to dig deeper into that relationship.

Joel Osteen is very effective at getting people to sit down and consider their relationship with God. However, I have a problem with people who just want to eat cream puffs all day. At some point, you have to dig deeper, and Osteen is not the best person for that.

Billy Graham is probably the best public evangelist of the 20th century. He's been effective in sharing the BASICS of the Christian faith - God, Salvation, Heaven, Hell, etc.

Again, though, a person in their journey to deeper richness in their walk will want to move beyond Osteen and Graham.

But, therein lies the problem with American culture. We are L-A-Z-Y.

I ~used to~ listen to and financially support Charles Stanley and Joyce Meyer - to get both a man and woman's view. I bought many of their books and videos. I gave them all to my nephew when he found Jesus in a college cafeteria.

I want to say something about a few of those guys that have been mentioned up above--especially David James Kenedy. But, errrrrrggggg, I'll just bite my tongue. Think I'd ever be able to get my $600.00 back?
.
Speaking of money, we bought the credit union out on the new George Washington gold colored dollar coins that were inted minus the "In God We Trust" line. For you information, the Treasury says that was a mistake. They're bringing as high as $50.00 a piece in some markets. Jump on it. Good investment--at least you won't lose anything if you buy them from the bank for face value.

No need to bite your tongue. Just, in general, I find it more constructive to say things like....

X says this, and it's not true, because of Y

rather than...

X is a liar, a fraud, and an idiot.

The latter statement is just venting. It's nothing more than Internet graffiti, and I see too much of that online.
