Actually, he has not run away from some pretty challenging questions and, for that, I respect him. You do too, I'm sure.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Well, thanks, but...

:) I was referring to well-known preachers.

Let me put it this way....

I'm a Republican, but I've told my Democrat friends that their best ticket would be Virginia Governor Mark Warner at the top and Senator Barack Obama as the VP. That ticket would be respectable and virtually unbeatable.

If you're a Democrat, I'm sure you could still identify a Republican or two that you respect and that you think would be the best leader of the Republican Party.

So, even though you may not be an evangelical Christian - perhaps you've been really turned off by the mainstream Christian community - are there evangelists, pastors, teachers out there in the Christian community that you nevertheless respect and can appreciate?

What pastors, teachers, etc. do you think the Christian community should rally around?

My own brother-in-law is a Baptist Preacher and that tells you a lot. I love him; but. happy

John Shelby Spong is the one I think deserves our attention more than any other I can bring to mind.

To those of you who are at odds with mainstream evangelical Christianity, would you or do you LISTEN to (with at least some degree of respect) the following:

Billy Graham?

Joel Osteen?

Rick Warren?

Charles Stanley?

Joyce Meyer?

Whoever else you want to insert.

If so, why? If not, why?

I'd really like to know.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Spong

In response to Well, thanks, but... posted by pink101:

I am familiar with Spong. I've read Rescued from Fundamentalism and parts of a couple of his other books. I recently purchased Sins of the Scriptures.

Obviously, I don't agree with him much, but I have read some of his works. He's thought-provoking. I'll give him that.

I've never heard of any of them except Graham. I don't watch a lot of TV, and I only listen to the radio when I want to rock. ;-)

I have respect for Graham (setting aside his involvement in [politics). I don't always agree with what he says, but he's no raving fanatic.

» Migisi - Juvenile and silly humor

I spent the Labor Day holiday with my kids (boys!!) They know I post here, and made me promise to post this link. It's juvenile and silly, but even I laughed hard.
