In response to Privatized posted by _Boanerges_:

When they come up with that computer chip that can be implanted so you need not deal with computers, would you get one if it were reasonably priced?

My primitive Christian upbringing prevents me from gladly accepting such a technological advance.

Hell, I don't even have a tatoo or pierced ears, and I refuse to wear reading glasses. My wife says I need a hearing aid, too, but I resist any personal mechanical aid. That's the kind of caveman I am.

sure.. why not...
if you are referring to what the Bible says, then one can not worship it as God to accept it... happy
So enjoy the technology.. God made it possible, and placed you in the time that it would be available! a double blessing for Ollie...
So.. yes.. go out and get a hearing aid...

.
A computer chip?
.
It won't be a chip. Instead, it will be a bio-tech cellular device complete with a software program that allows your brain to be down loaded to a receiver. Human beings will be replicated with bio-technology to near perfect beings capable of lasting for ever and ever or until they are destroyed by some purposeful act. Imagine an Einstein's brain with all its memories, skills, experiences, and knowledge being downloaded into a bio-tech being that can and will exist for thousands of years.
.
Imagine that!!
.
It is on the way.
.
The Singularity.

Sold! I won't need a hearing aid then, right? I'm sure such a thing would also provide you with good eyesight and hearing, and eventually, eternal human life!

Yeah, sure. But, who do you think is going to be able to afford it?

George W. Bush?

Can you imagine?

The closest thing we have to it today is the corporation that doesn't die.
.
A bio-tech being that has the brain of a human being and is made of indestructible bio-technical material and devices would present the street person with the appearance of a god. As long as people are kept dumb, tyranny will be the method that controls humanity.

» pink101 - American History

.
American History has been made to be a dry subject about which very few people ever get excited.
.
Are YOU excited about the subject?
.
But, it may be the most important subject possible.
.
Brian seems to go along with what is called the Prime Mover or, as he calls it, the Main Man approach to history. Flat out wrong!!
.
For example, during World War I there was a great deal of effort put out against anyone who openly opposed the idea of the war as a policy. The Alien and Sedition act threw people into prison for merely opening their mouths. Cases ever went to the Supreme Court and were tried that gave support to the suppression of Civil Liberties.
.
And, after the war, the unrest continued in something history books refer to as The Great Repression in capital letters. An organization was started with the name of Civil Liberties Bureau and it was targeted by the government as being a hotbed of sympathizers and fellow travellors to the communists and anarchists in American. A round up of over two hundred suspects resulted in them being put on a ship and sent out of the country without trials.
.
The 1920s were turbulent times in more ways than one. The government was forced to acquiesce to the demands of American workers. Keeping things moving and hot, the socialists, communists, and anarchists continued to agitate--without their efforts the old establishment would have continued its ruthless abuse of workers and citizens.
.
You owe it to yourself and your descendants to study American History.
.

» Twice__Pardoned - Rupert Murdock

So I did some reading on this man after the mention of his name and I have come to some conclusions of my own.

It seems that the media not associated with him have pinned him a neo-con because of His support of the War in Iraq and a few other things but it seems to me that it's not so cut and dry.

I don't think he stands on either side of the block... I simply think he's a businessman playing on the emotions of American people.

Imagine a large event happens, like September 11, and you simply play on the emotions that most Americans have, including the desire to go to war. the large majority of Americans supported Afghanistan and the not as large but still majority of Americans supported the entry into Iraq as well (I still support our decision to initially go to war in Iraq, BTW).

So people like Rupert simply played on our emtions. The Dollar, Yen and Euro really are what he wants it seems to me. Money equals control to a certain extent... I'm just no sure I'd classify him as evil quite yet... Just My opinion for now

I simply think he's a businessman playing on the emotions of American people.
.
And why did he play on our emotions? Didn't he stand to profit, hugely, from our going to war?
.
No servant can be slave to two masters; for either he will hate the first and love the second, or he will be devoted to the first and think nothing of the second. You cannot serve God and Money. (Matthew 6:24, and Luke 16:13)
.
Those who want to be rich fall into temptations and snares and many foolish harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and perdition. The love of money is the root of all evil things, and there are some who in reaching for it have wandered from the faith and spiked themselves on many thorny griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)

.
I agree with Phil--Murdock is all about the money.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle
