Does this mean you, Migisi and Phil (and whoever else) have nothing else to add, not even a note of agreement?
.
When the thread veered off, I simply lost my place in Eccl and my focus. It's my SAD (senior attention deficit) kicking in. I'll have to go back and review to see if I have anything to add or comment on.

Why didn't you want to converse about Ecc. 7:26-28?
Does conversation have to follow the leader or is it best in its free form?

I explained this in post #481:
we're (trying) to take it a bit at a time, in the order it is presented, as any first-time reader might.
.
When WE began this discussion WE agreed to do it this way. Go back to the beginning and see for yourself.

Not enough cutting and pasting lately, so here goes.
In Post 495 you answer my question: "What is your agenda here?"
Your answer was "Conversation, learning from others & giving someone a new insight or two."
I apologize for believing you, as you then dismiss my pointing to the author of Ecc's obvious prejudice towards women, as an attempt to move the conversation to, perhaps, its most important point.
If we hear pretty words from someone, we need to be warned what may be at the heart of their agenda.
For example, about half of Mein Kampf speaks of German pride and constructive ways to improve society. If we were to ignore all the Jew-bashing, Hitler's ideas were not too far outside of the mainstream.

I don't have to explain or defend myself to anyone. Read what you like into what I do or don't do. Its all the same to me.

Yes, ignoring the point another person tries to make helps ANY "conversation".
Your desire to lead Sunday school in picking out the pretty words from Ecc while ignoring the author's prejudice does not come from a place of peace and love.

.
1 Walk prudently when you go to the house of God;
and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools,
for they do not know that they do evil.
.
2 Do not be rash with your mouth,
And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.
For God is in heaven, and you on earth;
Therefore let your words be few.
.
3 For a dream comes through much activity,
And a fool's voice is known by his many words.
.
4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it;
For He has no pleasure in fools.
Pay what you have vowed--
.
5 Better not to vow than to vow and not pay.
.
6 Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin,
nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error.
Why should God be angry at your excuse
and destroy the work of your hands?
.
Above is the NKJV
.
.
The NAB renders vs 3:
nightmares come with many cares,
and a fool's utterance with many words.
.
Yuppers--sounds like Qoheleth would have made a good Vermonter.
peace and love,
