Zen was a sort of natural home for him, and he wrote several books on it in an attempt to explain it to the western mind.

There is a great need for all of us to break through the mental ruts and man made creeds which can cause our souls to rust. Zen seems to be about not letting words and verbal communication block out what experience and being about the business of absorbing life through feeling it, is about. Certainly most of us in the Western world can relate to the feeling of coldness when we reflect on the times we heard the expression, 'the Church is against it.'
