» pink101 - Don't have to be a President

In response to Don't have to be a President posted by HeadZenCards:
.
In an existence where survival of the fitest is such an obvious fact of being, it makes sense that over billions of years that one being would have prevailed over all others to become supreme over all--in fact, that it would incorporate all existence within itself. It's the only way there could ever be so much order. The other way of saying it is to ask how there could be more than one.
.
It's in existence to be done.
.
Go figger.

One has prevailed. You, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you.

» pink101 - The Teaching Company

.
For those of our readers who have been turned off to history, here is an excellent lecture--given free--by the Teaching Company.
.

.
It won't cost you a penny; but, it is a very good introduction into American History and, who knows, you might get turned on. And, I think you will see how, no matter how much things change, they remain the same.

I just received two new courses from the Teaching Company.
.
Allen C. Guelzo, PhD The Henry R Luce Professor of the Civil War Era and Director of Civil War ERa Studies, Gettysburg College.
.
There are thirty-six lectures. I've watched the first two and I expect I will go through the course more than one time.
..
"It is a history of the ideas, the thinkers, and the institutions that have mattered most to Americans as a people. The 36 lectures in this series are built around six basic themes of American thinking."

This is a very interesting set of lectures.
.
The idea that America is based on a Bible based understanding is not well founded.
.
The God of Nature certainly is NOT the God of the Bible--not by a long shot.

.
A major activity during the colonial days involved the roles played by religion as it was combined with enlightenment ideas.
.
Both sets of ideas worked together in a sorting out process that combined enlightenment thinking with the Christianity of the day. And both changed as a result.
