I've been periodically reviewing this discussion, and I find it ironic that it was kicked off by a blog I did on the end to civil debate. This discussion has kind of attested to that fact.

May I suggest that, no matter how much we all disagree on these various issues, that we all refrain from insults. I can say with conviction, that in spite of the enormous differences I have w/ some of the participants in the Suite101 Mind & Soul discussions, that I wish nothing but happiness and peace to everyone here.

In the words of Mr. Spock....

"Live long and prosper."

We all need to get a little Mr. Spock in us. :-) Maybe not the pointy ears, though.

I have known more free wheeling Free Methodists than you can shake a stick at--those guys who give themselves permission to be so high and mighty in their self assigned set of rights (self-righteousness) which they have gleaned from their studies of "The Word". I've been in their company watching and hearing them rock and roll with their pontifications and long nosed appraoches toward others who have not, as yet, been enlightened by the "power of the sword of the Spirit". And, they're not all Free Methodists; although I must say, that denomination has more than its fair share. They just love to show off their ability to quote biblical passages like, Iowa 3:17, or, Arizona 32:26, or, is that, First Jones 1:6--15?

If you could ever get off your high horse of thinking that you've arrived in some lobby where all perfect knowledge is about to be unfolded, you might get over your tendency to be so uppity.

You seem to forget that you're in no better position than anyone else when it comes to knowing the absolute truth.

Anyone can claim they know the truth and anyone can claim that the others are deluded. You don't have to be from Texas to be stupid.

Well, okay. But pointing to an entire group of folks like Free Methodists without putting some kind of qualifier in there is an example of insulting behavior. That is why I asked you to clarify it. But don't take my word for it. I'm worse than you as an insultor so I'm tainted goods. ABC.
