Twelve have now voted at the percentages have changed with six for King and four for Graham.
.
It would be interesting to read why people vote for Graham.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Looks like King's the....er..King

Looks like Dr. King wins out - by one vote - over Billy Graham.

I didn't vote myself. I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

My hunch is that Billy Graham would vote for Dr. King too. He strikes me as being pretty humble, and I know he respects the work Dr. King did in America.

That's especially true when we consider that many deeper water Christians don't think too highly of Billy Graham.
.
By the way, I have a suspicion that one or our participants here signed in under various identities in order to influence the vote. He ran out of aliases.

.
How about some explanations as to why any of the participants here voted for Graham.
.
Is it that he made being a Christian the "thing" to be?

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Bottom line

In response to How About posted by pink101:

Well, I think it comes down to a fundamental question. Is what Billy Graham has taught...the truth? In other words, is God real? Are heaven and hell real? Is the Bible true? If Christianity is right, then Billy Graham has made a profound, positive difference in the lives of millions of people.

If Christianity is false, then Billy Graham has dedicated his entire life and ministry to something with only some social value. And if that is the case, then you have to give the nod to Martin Luther King, Jr. who did more in a political and cultural sense than Graham. (Of course, King also believed in God, heaven, hell, Christ, etc.).

» pink101 - Your Question

In response to Bottom line posted by BrianTubbs:
.
But, your question was:
"Which of the following do you believe has been the most influential preacher (good or bad) in American society in the last 50 years?"
.
It wasn't about Christianity or a belief in God or about which one a person liked the most..
.
I guess I have to stick with MLK, Jr.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - pink, I agree

In response to Your Question posted by pink101:

....I was just explaining why some people probably voted for Graham. If Christianity is true (at least the basics of it), then Graham exerted a very positive influence over America. Wouldnt' you agree?

Again, I personally didn't vote. I'd have to lean toward King myself.

Yupper, I agree; but, King also brought a Christian message to the public. Perhaps more substantive than Graham's. I know many evangelical Christians who disagree with Graham almost completely and think he did a great disservice to true Christianity with his watered down ecumenicalism.
