Elton John says he would "ban religion completely." Thankfully, Elton John was not part of the team that put together the American Bill of Rights. Nevertheless, the music legend's blunt views on religion explains why so many people refuse to believe in God or practice any religion at all. In short, God or the ideas surrounding God clash with their feelings and desires. In Elton John's case, it's homosexuality. If only religion was pro-gay, then he'd look at it differently.

But what are we saying here? Is God's law a buffet? Is religion a blank sheet of paper upon which we write whatever we want it to be? Is it God's job to conform to us? Or our job to conform to God?
