It is not my intention to slander these men, but I can't help but bring attention to the fact that Clinton and Carter both have had "image" problems of their own. In Carter's case, his is the image of a decent man who nevertheless made for a weak and ineffective Commander-in-Chief. And Clinton? Well, let's just say that he did little to cultivate the image of a mature, committed Christian qualified to lead on theological and spiritual matters.
Regardless of their personal images or failings, do these men have a point? Do the Baptists need a new image? And if so, do Clinton and Carter have the answer?
