Wisdom in Handling Money

There are some people who are really poor, but spend as if they are rich, unconvinced of their poverty. The others who are rich, yet thought to be poor, also need a gratitude to God, like giving charity to others they can well afford. "One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth." ~ Proverbs 13: 7

The passage in Proverbs chapter 28 gives thoughtful insights on money and how to handle it wisely.

  • Poor people who are honest are better than the wicked rich, for they have more comfort in themselves, and a greater blessing. "Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse." ~Proverbs 28: 6

  • To prosper and be happy is to be honest and righteous, with regards to proper conduct. "Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf." ~Proverbs 28: 20

  • This is all about a person who hastens to get rich quickly, to a point of being deliberately stingy, and never having the time to think that his Creator might take his wealth from him anytime, leaving him in poverty. "A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him." ~Proverbs 28: 22
