When planning a visit to the Holy Land, there are some very important historical and cultural places to include along the way. Here are some suggestions of places to see.

Israel is a very unique place to visit. It is a very modern country with a good education system and new technologies. The Holy Land has so much history with different religions and cultures that have been around for over 4,000 years. There are three religions in the Holy Land: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. The common language spoken in Israel is Hebrew, but English is also well known. People are very friendly in Israel, so one would definitely enjoy a visit.

Visiting Tel-Aviv, Israel

One of the major airports to fly into is in Tel-Aviv, so why not start the journey there? This city never stops. There is always something to do either day or night. It has the most population out of all the cities in Israel. While in Tel-Aviv, be sure to shop at the Azrielli Center. This shopping center boasts 30 restaurants and an 8-screen cinema among the attractions there. The Azrielli Center is a combination of three skyscrapers in the middle of Tel-Aviv.

Also check out the Safari Park in Tel-Aviv. Here animals roam free. Pack a lunch and make a day of it. Adults and children alike will love this unique experience. If listening to music and dancing is on the itinerary, stop by one of Tel-Aviv’s many nightclubs. These nightclubs stay open all night and the real fun begins at 1:00 a.m. for those night owls out there.

Visiting Jerusalem

Jerusalem is a definite reason why many Christians want to travel to the Holy Land in the first place. It is Israel's capital. The Mount of Olives is a well-known Christian site. Jesus prayed and taught there. Other famous landmarks to visit include:

  • Tomb of Zechariah
  • Church of Maria Magdalene
  • Mary's Tomb

These are all located on the beautiful Mount of Olives.

Another site to visit while in Jerusalem is Dome of the Rock. Dome of the Rock is the most popular and oldest Islamic site. It is a gorgeous place that can be seen from anywhere in Jerusalem. This site is a Muslim shrine, and it is built upon a sacred stone. It is considered a sacred place. Find more Christian sites to visit at Go Israel.

Visiting the Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is an awesome place to visit. It is the lowest place on earth. The heavy salt content in the water of the Dead Sea makes it impossible for life to grow. Going for a swim will be an extraordinary adventure. The possibility of sinking in this salt water is almost impossible. Salt takes up about 33% of the water, so one can lie down on her back and relax, whether she knows how to float or not.

The Dead Sea is known for its medicinal purposes. Mud and minerals found in the Dead Sea contribute to the healing of diseases of the skin. Healthy skin will feel invigorated after being in the Dead Sea. This is one of the most odd and unique sites in the world.

Visiting the Gulf of Eilat

Eilat is a very busy port in Israel that sits on the Red Sea. It is the southernmost city in Israel. The Gulf of Eilat is known as the Red Sea Resort in the Holy Land. You will find beautiful beaches, fun nightlife, and lovely desert landscapes in and around the city. Try one of the camel tours for a new adventure.

While there, check out the Coral World Underwater Observatory to see glorious marine life. Swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Reef. Visit Hai-Bar Yotvata Nature Reserve to see endangered species and biblical animals.

There are so many sites to see when traveling in the Holy Land that depending on the length of stay, it will be hard to see them all. The ones that do get seen will be an experience not soon forgotten.
