Christening Gifts for Babies and Children
As infant christenings and baptisms are common for many major denominations, most Christian gift shops or bookstores stock a range of commemorative items as do some stores specialising in clothing and items for babies.
A children’s Bible or book of Bible stories is less likely to be put away or collect dust on a shelf than a standard Bible at this age. There are a variety of children’s Bibles available with simplified stories and vibrant illustrations to engage preschoolers. Older children might appreciate one of the more interactive children’s Bibles which can include a variety of puzzles, word games, hypothetical scenarios with questions or charts and diagrams to help children understand the context and application of what they are reading.
Several authors such as Max Lucado, Sheila Walsh and Kathryn O’Brien have written picture books that emphasize a child’s value and worth. These are a beautiful gift to remind children that they are significant to God and to their family and friends.
If the child has a Bible name or the name of a Saint recognised by his/her particular denomination, a book about that person or some other gift related to the name can be considered.

Commemorate a Special Christian Event
No matter what the gift, including a personal prayer is a special way to celebrate the significance of the decision to be christened or baptised. Write the prayer on a piece of parchment or stationery or use a script font and print using a computer.
