One of the children's favorite stories of bravery in the Bible is the prophet Daniel's who was thrown into the lions' den by the king of Babylon who challenged Daniel's trust in God. The psalmist believes that God knows what he needs and what is good for him, and when he is in trouble God is nearby. He stays awake with a purpose, and prays to seek God's help.

"My eyes stay open through the watches of the night that I may meditate on your promises." ~Psalm 119: 148
